Foods & Feasts of Colonial Virginia

November 21, 2018

From clay pots to iron kettles, explore the centuries-old tools and cooking methods used to prepare and preserve food in colonial times during “Foods & Feasts of Colonial Virginia,” a three-day event starting on Thanksgiving Day. Jamestown Settlement historical interpreters show how food was gathered, preserved and prepared on land and at sea by Virginia’s English colonists and Powhatan Indians. At the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, programs examine typical soldiers’ fare during the Revolutionary War and trace the bounty of a period farm from field to kitchen.
