York County Public Library Programs

The York County Public Library offers a wide variety of programs, activities and fun for all ages during October. All programs are free and open to the public.

 

FOR ADULTS:

 

The Live Well @ Your Library and Explore @ Your Library series continue this month
with a variety of programs for adults. Registration is noted if required. Register online through the Events Calendar at www.yorkcounty.gov/library or by calling the Tabb Library at 757-890-5120 or the Yorktown Library at 757-890-5207. Programs include:

 

- Personal Cyber Security on October 9 at 1 pm, hosted by York County Information
Technology Department, in Yorktown
- Personal Cyber Security on October 10 at 6:30 pm, hosted by York County Information Technology Department, in Tabb
- J.A. Jance Author Talk and Book Signing on October 11 at 7 pm, hosted by Virginia
Peninsula Literary Consortium, at Christopher Newport University’s David Student Union. Free tickets are available at area libraries.
- Introduction to Tai Chi on October 15 at 6 pm, in Tabb. Registration is required.
- Movie Night—“Young Frankenstein” on October 16 at 6:30 pm, adults and teens, in Tabb
- DMV Connect on October 17 at 9 am, in Yorktown
- Bulbs 101 on October 18 at 1:30 pm, in Yorktown. Registration required.
- VHDA First-time Homebuyer Class on October 20 at 10:15 am, in Tabb. Register at
www.vhda.com/FreeClass.
- Explore the Ghosts of Yorktown with author and paranormal investigator Jeff Santos on October 23 at 6:30 pm, in Yorktown. Registration required.
- Maximize your Social Security Workshop on October 29 at 6:30 pm, in Tabb. Registration required.
- Haunted Yoga on October 30 at 6:45 pm, in Tabb. Registration required.
Maximize your Social Security Workshop on November 1 at 6:30 pm, in Yorktown. Registration required.

 

FOR TEENS:

 

The Library is hosting several events for teens this month. Registration is not required. For more information, contact the Youth Services Department at Tabb at 757-890-5110. Programs include:

 

- Personal Cyber Security on October 9 at 1 pm, hosted by York County Information

- Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Party and Movie Screening on October 13 at 1 pm, in Tabb

- Teen Advisory Committee Interest Meeting on October 20 at 2 pm, teens in grades 9-
12, in Tabb

 

FOR CHILDREN:

 

The following programs are offered for children during October. Registration is noted if

- Lego Lovers on October 8 at 4:30 pm, ages 5-12, in Tabb
- Snuggle Stories on October 11 at 7 pm, families, in Tabb
- Science Sunday—Halloween STEM on October 14 at 2 pm, ages 5-10, in Tabb,
registration required
- Makerspace—Tinkercad on October 18 at 4:30 pm, ages 10-14, in Tabb. Registration
begins October 11.
- Monday Morning Homeschoolers—STEM Engineering Challenge on October 22 at
10:30 am, in Tabb. Registration begins October 15.
- Halloween Story Time on October 27 at 10:30 am, ages 3 and up, in Tabb
- Halloween Story Time on October 27 at 1 pm, ages 3 and up, in Yorktown
- Paws to Read on October 27 at 2 pm, ages 6-12, in Tabb
- Weekly Story Times, schedule available on the Events Calendar, registration begins
October 22 for Tiny and Toddler Tales and October 23 for Preschool Story Time

 

The Tabb and Yorktown Libraries will be closed on Friday, October 19 in observance of
Yorktown Day. Both libraries will reopen at 10 am on Saturday, October 20.

Visit the Tabb Library at 100 Long Green Boulevard, Yorktown, VA 23693 or the Yorktown Library at 8500 George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown, VA 23692. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 am to 9 pm; Friday, 10 am to 6 pm; Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, 1 pm to 5 pm.

 

Through an agreement with the Williamsburg Regional Library (WRL), York County
residents may also utilize the services of both WRL branches at 515 Scotland Street and 7770 Croaker Road. For directions and hours of operation, call 757-259-4040 or 757-259-7770.
