March Activities & Events at the Senior Center of York
 

A variety of educational and entertaining programs are being offered at the Senior Center of York in March. Participation is open to seniors age 55 or better and their spouses, regardless of age. To register for these activities, sign up in person at the Senior Center or call (757) 890-3444.


AARP Free Tax Service – Now through Tuesday, April 17

Tax preparation for seniors from 9 am to 1 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays is on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority to those 60 and older. Participants should bring last year’s tax return and current tax information.


St. Patrick’s Day Bingo - Friday, March 9, 1 pm

Join us for a friendly game with members of Preceptor Beta Gamma service sorority. Free, fun, and with great prizes. Register by Wednesday, March 7.


March Craft - Monday, March 12, at 10 am

Create an elevated flower pot with craft facilitator Kathy Wahl. Register by Thursday, March 8.


AARP Driver Safety Program - Monday, March 12 and Tuesday, March 13

This program is designed for drivers age 50 or better. Cost is $15 for members of AARP and $20 for non-members.
 

Holiday Cards – Thursday, March 15, from 10 am to 12 pm

Make beautiful cards for St. Patrick’s Day or Easter with craft facilitator Nancy Beaton. Register by Tuesday, March 13.
 

March Birthday Bash - Friday, March 16, at 1 pm

Musician Lynn Trott will perform a medley of English, Scottish and Irish songs. You do not have to be celebrating a birthday to come join in on the fun!
 

Tax Relief & Filing Assistance for Elderly and/or Disabled – Wednesday, March 21,
from 9:30 am to 11 am

For assistance, you must be at least 65 years old or permanently and totally disabled and must be a York County homeowner residing in the dwelling.
 

Culture Day: “The Irish in Wartime” – Wednesday, March 21, at 1 pm

Chris Garcia, Education Coordinator for the Virginia War Museum, will give an informative presentation with pictures and artifacts on notable Irish-Americans who have served in the military.
 

“War Stories and Pizza” – Monday, March 26, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm

Veterans can gather and share stories from military service and enjoy a pizza lunch.
