The Virginia War Museum will be holding a First World War Day on Saturday May 6, 2017 from 10:00am – 4:00pm. There will be a launch of the new Newport News WWI Port of Embarkation Guide at 11:00. At 1:00pm Virginia National Guard Historian Al Barnes will be giving a talk “Many Roads Traveled, America’s Foreign Born Doughboys.” Also, Living Historians from the 1 st Virginia Cavalry will have a display of uniforms and equipment of Virginia’s Cavalrymen in the First World War, as well as a temporary display of Photos and Maps on Newport News Port of Embarkation in the First World War. The event is free with regular Museum admission.
