The City’s Public Works Department will collect natural Christmas trees for recycling on Tuesday, January 3 and Monday, January 9. Residents must remove the stand and all decorations including lights, tinsel, garland and ornaments and place the tree at the curb before 7:00 a.m. The trees are collected and chipped into mulch for use in City landscaped areas and flower beds. If you miss the two City tree collections, you can put the tree to the curb on your normal trash collection day and our contracted refuse company will pick it up.
According to the EPA, household waste increases by 25% between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. It is important to recycle as much as possible. Items that can go in your recycle cart include cardboard boxes, gift boxes, wrapping paper, tissue paper, holiday cards and envelopes, paper gift bags and all those empty wine bottles.
